Nurse Vacancies Are on the Increase

Nurse vacancies in the NHS across the United Kingdom are up again, this time by 10%, according to a recent article in the Nursing Times.

A total number of 43,619 more nurses are needed, with London the region most in need, and the Midlands having the highest increase in vacancies, in comparison to this time last year. Across the 43,619 vacancies, almost 13,000 are in the mental health sector, which like most figures across the industry, is an increase from last year.

Over 2,000 more community nurses are required, as well as over 1,000 specialist nurses. The vast majority of vacancies are in the acute sector, with almost 27,000 more needed.

A positive from the recent data was that the North West have less vacancies than this time last year, the only region across England to achieve this.

Medilells have been a great asset to us. We were struggling to fill our 2 management vacancies and they managed to quickly find suitable candidates for the roles. They ensured a smooth process for them and us, from the interview through to their first day.

Client, Essex

As a nursing home based in a rural area, we find it difficult to attract suitable candidates to our vacancies. Medilells assisted us with this by finding a nurse with the right experience, skill set and personality to fit what we are building here. We were impressed by their ability to deliver and the manner in which they did so. We will definitely be using them again.
